VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

GET INVOLVED IN YOUR CHAPTER!

We are always looking for eager volunteers to help us with the day to day work that comes with running the NJ Chapter.  Each of the Board VPs could use help on their committees.  This is a great way to get involved and help your chapter.

  • The Event Planning Committee is looking for enthusiastic volunteers that enjoy planning events or would be looking to learn.  We would also like to know if you are aware of any potenial speakers or possible meeting locations.  Please contact our Events Planning Chair at events@newjersey.theiiba.org.
  • The Communications Committee could use volunteers that are interested in reaching out to other IIBA chapters for possible cross-chapter events or perhaps setting up remote meeting locations for far away IIBA NJ members.  You can volunteer by contacting the Communications Chair at communications@newjersey.theiiba.org.
  • The Membership Committee is looking for volunteers to help with getting members checked in before meetings.  In addition, any volunteers that are well versed with Microsoft Access and would like to help with the membership database would also be much appreciated.  Please contact the Membership Chair at membership@newjersey.theiiba.org.
  • The Professional Development and Education Committee are looking for volunteers that may want to help with study sessions or facilitate learning within the chapter.  Please reach out to our Professional Development and Education Chair at profdev@newjersey.theiiba.org.
  • The Marketing Committee would love to have volunteers that can help spread the word of our chapter.  Volunteers could help with our Newsletter or can help bring more sponsors to the chapter.  If you have any ideas or would just like to help out let our Marketing Chair know at marketing@newjersey.theiiba.org.

Does Networking Work?

“I wanted to let you know that I accepted an offer to be a Senior Consultant for business processes and will be starting on Monday, Oct 18, 2010.  The job came via a referral from an IIBA NJ member after he asked you (Sharon Ashton, Chapter President) to read his email out loud in the August meeting about jobs at his company.” – Erik

Erik is at least the thrid member of the NJ IIBA Chapter who obtained a position in the last 6 months through networking at the monthly Chapter meetings proving that networking is effective. If you're looking for a position, come prepared with your resume and business card - you just never know when opportunity will knock!
